The “reactive” ground!

26 September, 2018 News

How strong are the forces felt by our knees when we bounce on the ground? What’s the best way to place our body in order to minimize unnecessary impact? Dr. Dimitris Tsaopoulos, senior researcher at the Center for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), Dr. Giannis Giakas, professor at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the University of Thessaly and Marianna Fragkaki, Physiatrist at the ANIMUS Rehabilitation Center worked together to answer these questions, looking for ways to protect against exercise-induced trauma.

Learn how to protect your body!

During the interactive exhibition they will perform a jump-down assessment using a high-tech camera and a force platform system and they are going to compare different landing strategies for a single legged jump .Jump-down is a natural activity for humans (e.g., getting down a staircase), and the amount of loading differs between walking and running. In each jump-down assessment the user will learn how to place their body and knees to protect themselves from unnecessary force!
