TALOS Uth: The robotic seismograph!

22 September, 2018 News

Are you ready to try out your robotics skills? The TALOS ed-UTH-robotix team of the University of Thessaly is coming to the Festival’s Interactive Exhibition to give the opportunity to our young visitors to create their own  projects, combining learning with fun!

Interactive workshops for all ages

The experienced facilitators and educators of the TALOS team will offer interactive workshops in robotics, programming and creative expression for students of various ages as well as “inquisitive” parents. The workshop’s basic idea is centered around an original robotic construction designed and created with children, which combines traditional with innovative tools. The children will actively engaged in self-contained projects, and will be able to construct and program their own creations!

How can a robot “read” earthquakes?

The asnwer to that question awaits our friends who will participate in the workshops, since they will have the opportunity to meet the awarded “robotic seismograph” of the University of Thessaly, RoboSeismoV2, engaging in senarios about earthquake recording and with digital and conventional tools.

Meet the TALOS team

The TALOS team (from Tinker, Advance, Learn, Observe, Synthesize) of the University of Thessaly has been inspired, designing and creating since 2016 in the field of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) workshops for children. It is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of educators and researchers, actively supported by established and experienced faculty members of the University. The team’s philosophy is based around active engagement of children in interactive learning, aiming at the all-around development of children, the cultivation of multifaceted skills and their introduction to scientific thinking and the use of innovative methods and tools.

We are waiting for you at the Mill of Pappas for two days filled with robotics, creativity and fun!
